What Do Players Want?

A selection of quotes from nightly /feedback reports that amused me, interested me, or made me think. Sometimes I sure wish I the feedback reports could tell me the context behind the report; particularly for that first one. I wonder what was happening!

---

Text: confine gnomes.

---

Text: I've actually become bored with typing this but we **NEED** more hotbars... My warden is overwhelmed with not being able to organize herself/her abilities because of this. And to answer the question some GM's have asked, NO... it will not be a screen full of hotbars... My monitor is HUGE and you have so kindly added the ability to make the hotbars smaller in size. Please add more hotbars, it is making the game unplayable.

---

Text: All I want for Christmas is to be able to throw snowballs while flying. No, seriously, snowball fights in the air would be amazing, please.

---

Text: stop cursing me!

---

Text: It would be cool if you guys could design a "Dressing Room" for the mounts. for example, the horses have like 10 different types of armors that you can get, but given that you can custonize your character's armor and weapons to be he exact way that you want it, its insanly hard to find a mount whos colors / armors match.

You could set up a series of colored plates that have the graphics that already exist, but let us pick and choose what goes where to add personalization to our various mounts.

Thank you for your time.

---

Text: We need Dragon Flying Mounts. Preferably actual dragons like Woushi or the ones in Vanguard.

---

Text: Scouts get an unfair advantage over casters, Nerf Them ffs

---

Text: a second thought that just passed my head is i think this rating system is dumb. it is just another outlet for angsty people to put others down anonymously and hurt their feelings when someone has worked extremely hard on their home. I think its cool that you can visit other peoples houses with the click of a button but i believe that rating system has to go before someone ends up getting hurt emotionally too much from jackasses on the game.

---

Text: Exorcise is cool. Thanks! It's kinda like a half-infusion, only with added penalty. Kinda what I've been wanting - so thanks!

---

Text: I would like to suggest adding a few new recipies for Carpenters. Specifically, new trees! :)

Currently, Carpenters can make only one standalone tree -- the Nektulos Pine. It's a very well liked and well-used tree among decorators. Unfortunately, for everything else we must rely upon Grottos and faction merchants, while our crafters are left with the same old recipies.

There are so many wonderful trees ingame already that would make perfect Carpenter-crafted items. Just a few that come to mind are: the beautiful fruit trees in Conservatory, the lightly snow-frosted pines in Eastern Wastes, the stately green and blue-flowered ornamentals in the new Felwithe Mansion, the massive sweeping canopies of the Kunzar Jungle trees, the dark pines of Darklight Woods, the twisted frozen trunks of the Great Divide pines, the tall swaying palms of Kerra Isle, the Void-twisted trees of Toxxulia Forest, or even that cute little decorative palm from Toxx (that is now the "Warden tree").

I do hope you will consider adding some, if not all, of these to our recipies! There are more than enough trees, plants, and shrubs in this game already to keep Carpenters, vendors, and grottos busy for quite some time -- and EQ2 has an amazingly creative team of designers to add even more :)

---

Text: you need to change the loggin music back to the original. i like to logg in to pleasant music and the new music is so annoying and depressing that sometimes i just exit right back out of the game without playing because it bugs me so much.

---

Text: The two new dynamic dungeons are AWESOME! I'm having loads of fun with these. I can play the level 90 versions in a full group with my friends, and I can mentor and play a lower-level version in a duo or trio, so it's perfect. I really love that you can get shinies in the mentored versions, too. More like this please!!!! :D

---

Text: bring back /gems from eq1 :P its way overdue.

---

Text: loving the new sign house items! any chance we could get something similar with paper notes we could leave for people - maybe vertical ones pinned to walls, or horizontal ones for placing on desks? am massively into organising treasure hunts in my houses, and at the mo i've been having to use books, but they're not always appropriate!

ta muchly! :)

---

Text: Need more solo content

---

Text: I would like to see a new quest in runny eye the gathering to save the hobbits that the goblins are cooking

---

Text: Beetle Herding ... the ENTIRE quest line should be changed so you DONT need the wait for the spiders to get in JUST the RIGHT spot.

There should be a trap-door spider that kills them as soon as they get to the ROCK !!!

---

Text: We need pink wings in the game, maybe some can be made for Erollisi Day this year. Or sooner. A multitude of colors for Frostfell time.

---

Text: it would be neat if when you destroyed some item, no matter what it was, your character would actually animate and throw an item into the nothing.

What Do Players Want?

A selection of assorted feedback from the past week:

---

Text: Guys i am dying for more hotbars. This game is incredible, but ten hotbars isnt enough! =)

---

Text: i think there should be more guards patroling new halas just for protection and to make the city feel alive

---

Text: please make key mobs un-despanwable for idiots like me

---

Text: thanks for yet more crap loot from the PQ chest. I hope your hair falls out in patches.

---

Text: Fighters should heal crit! :(

---

Text: I must say that I really love the number of easter eggs the quest designers put in - npcs that give lore when hailed afterwards, or as additional dialogue options, or even giving hints if you hail them after. This is the first expansion in which I've genuinely been interested in what npcs have to say. Great job!

---

Text: No difficulty nerfing please!!!!!

the game has only been out a couple weeks - it should not all be beatable right way.

---

Text: make an instance where each named is a froglok clone of a group member and at the end all the shadows unite and turn into a massive froglok that squashing people with his feet!

---

Text: screw you and the ice in the hold of rime ascent thats the stupidest bullshit you morons ever put in the damn game RETQARDS

---

Text: OK! I love the expansion. Love the flying mounts!! Just amazing how beautiful this game is.....can't wait to see if this post makes Dommino's blog lol.... Please can we have a "tinkered flying baloon ship" and can you also offer it as a historical Guide Quest!! Those have been so fun! This would be awsome for tinkerfest coming up.

(Hi! But I don't plan to post any other comments that say this, otherwise everyone will start to do it.)
---

Text: love the Guillermo Del Toro/Neil Gaiman feel of Pools in Velious :)

---

Text: DELETE ALL MAIL BUTTON NOW!

---

Text: Suggestion: Possibly a yearly event:

Camel and Flying Carpet Races in Sinking Sands where prizes are camel mounts, run speed 75 for the land bound (those who are too low a level to get the flying mounts). But there could also be sky races for prizes and for new flying carpets (really vivid color styles), that when the flying gryphon quests are completed, they can be a true flying mount (much like the Gnome aero race mounts...love those btw). Race courses would be in SS and PoF for these.

There could be an Arabian Nights type of event in conjuction with it where we can get outfits like 'I dream of Jeannie' and jeweled bottles that, when placed in house and rubbed once a day will give us some special (time limited) boost for battling.

Also, awesome bejeweled scimitars could be available for our appearance slots, and turbans for the guys heads, and for the girls, a shear veil for across her face that would mysteriously enhance her make-up around her eyes and make her eyes sparkle. There could be silly silk slippers (where the toe part curls up) in various vivid colors.

Your imagination could go wild with this...perhaps an Aladdin's Cave and a sleeping dragon where a number of stashed treasure items need be be stolen from the dragon successfully to win a prize.

Thanks for considering this,

( I thought of it while here in SS and saw the Camels running by)

---

Text: So very cool.... these Public Quests are AWESOME and so much social time spent with many players :)

---

Text: I find your lack of Sundered Frontier Wisdom-based quest rewards disturbing.

I mean, a Shaman can only take so much Str/Sta/Agi gear before he goes insane. >_<

---

Text: I adore the developer that wrote the quests for the Othmir. Never before have I felt so involved in a developing storyline that phyiscally changed the enviroment of the people I was doing quests for. Thank you, you are a wonderful game designer and deserve a promotion to lead designer.

---

Text: Some new hair styles would be nice. Something between super fancy frilly and just out of the shower would be nice.

---

Text: Now that we have flying griffens we can ride all over the place, you guys should make some flying pig mounts!

---

Text: Must we really take a furniture item from each repeatable faction quest from othmir & snowfang EVERY SINGLE DAY? How many othmir hammock's does one need? Could we have an option to perhaps say 'No thanks, I don't need furniture'.

The entire forest will surely be cut down for this multitude of wasted furniture that is forced upon us. The poor Othmir must do nothing but harvest wood and craft furniture for us like sweatshop workers. And the poor Snowfang gnolls have enough problems without taking up half their day making chairs for us.

---

Text: Did you know: shadowknights do not resuscitate little otter pups. nor do they rescue kittens from trees. make them into handbags, maybe. make them into shoes or slippers, yes.

It's beta time again, beta time again...

January, and it's that time of year again ... beta time for the upcoming EQII expansion, due to release in February!  This year's expansion is called Destiny of Velious.  If you haven't seen the teaser trailer we showed at Fan Faire yet, here it is.  I love the music, which sounds both epic and somehow nostalgic, and the video itself gives you a little teaser of what some of the zones will look like.  Can you guess which bits of the video are inside Thurgadin?  Did you spot the Tower of Frozen Shadow?  If you remember Velious fondly from EQ1, then you're probably looking forward to this expansion very much, as I am.

While many players are rushing to sign up for beta (secure link here) and impatiently saying they can't wait till it launches, the dev team of course are running around madly trying to make sure everything is as good as it can possibly be, and unable to believe how fast time is flying past.  As always, we tried to get everything done and ready before beta starts, but there are always a few things that don't get done quite on time, and other issues that may not become obvious until large numbers of people are running through the content.  So now is a time of much bug fixing and polish: polish being a catch-all term that means anything from "making it look prettier" to "explaining it better" to "improving the fun of it" and more.

Normally we all receive copies of nightly compilation reports from players on all our live servers who have used the in game /bug or /feedback commands to submit their comments.  If you've skimmed this blog in the past you may have seen some excerpts of the feedback reports that have caught my eye for one reason or another.  We also get regular reports from the customer service team highlighting problems they've come across through the live petition interactions, and of course there is always plenty of feedback posted on the official forums too.  All this is could be enough to keep a person busy all day just reading it; but during beta we add yet more reports on top of this.

During beta we compile and report the beta /feedback and /bug reports separately, so that they can be tracked separately, and these reports get the top priority for our attention.  We also have separate beta forums where people can leave feedback, and where we developers can post answers and information, or ask for specific feedback on areas we may want to get more information on.  Many of us log into the beta server itself as time permits, and either talk to people there, or perhaps just listen to the talk in the chat channels to see what people are talking about and whether there are any common themes.  We also get an additional report that we don't normally receive, which reports quests not completed.  This is a list of all quests that have been accepted by at least one player on the beta server but which have never been completed by anybody.  It's a good way of quickly highlighting a quest that might be broken: if 300 people accepted a quest but not a single person has managed to complete it, then chances are there's an issue that needs to be looked at.  Sometimes it's an easy reason - for example, maybe the quest requires entering a zone that isn't available yet on the beta server, or which is too hard thus far for anybody to have completed, or maybe there's a timing element that means you can't actually finish it for a couple of days.  But other times it may be that an NPC isn't spawning properly, or there's a bug in the quest causing it to actually not update, or similar.  We turned on these new reports about a week ago and they'll run till beta ends and the expansion launches, by which time of course we hope they will be completely empty.  So far no quests of mine are in the list, which makes me happy - but there are still several weeks of beta to go, and at least one rather important quest of mine that hasn't been tested yet, so neither I nor anyone else will truly relax until the last bug is closed and the launch date arrives.

What Do Players Want?

Apologies for the blog silence - between moving house and work getting busy as we approach the holidays and upcoming expansion beta, I haven't had a lot of spare time!  But here for your interest now are some interesting/amusing/just plain odd selections of player feedback submitted over the past week.  (It should be noted I have already implemented at least one of these since seeing it ...)   =)

---

Text: I think there should be a zone where it is pitch black and you need infravision to get through along with your personal torch, i think that'd be a fun zone to play in.

---

Text: Void Wood. I raid occasionaly on my Ranger and rarely see enough wood dropped when I do. cost of Void wood on Broker 50plat+. Please add this to T9 wood nodes. its rediculous that you cant use good arrows unless you A) Raid and are lucky B) Raid and are luckyor C) Raid and are lucky. ORRRR add like 5 void woods to each and every raid mob in the game, thx. VOIDWOODVOIDWOODVOIDWOOD OMG HELP <<<<((DOMINO))>>>>

---

Text: if you do Firiona'vie's outfit ill buy it make it so people can buy it ty.

---

Text: Thank you for all of the new(er) quests in Kingdom of Sky. They really help fill out the area and AA needed for this lvl.

See? Positive feedback exists. :)

---

Text: Large New Halas housing:

Would it be much trouble to move the spawn point for entering player characters to appear back by the front door, up the on raised step, instead of down on the main floor, away from the front door as they do now?

Many decorators want to put something there over that floor, such as a "Rose Mystique Rug" for example, which is very large and thick. Because the player character spawns down on the main floor instead of by the door, however, he or she arrives buried up to their ankles/knees/waist (depending on race) in carpet, which looks very odd.

Thanks for reading!

---

Text: Wouldnt it be more realistic to sit on a flying carpet and not stand? My wizard would love to use the fiery carpet from Lavastorm but wont because of the horrid looking crouch on them. Please oh please make it so we can sit on a flying carpet like it is meant to be!

---

Text: Hiya guys um i would like to know when frostfell is coming i love it plzzzzz relpy if u can thanks and is it in qenoys harbour caouse i normally camp here so yeah thx bye =) =)

---

Text: fix or repace paladn heals with something useful

---

Text: You guys need to add a rare spawn mob in Shard of Love......Cupid or something!

---

Text: Here's an idea for a new tinkered recipe for fun and maybe Roleplay. Secret Agent Spy scrolls! Would work like a player writeable book, but can be sealed by the author. Once sealed, it can be unsealed once, which consumes the item, and lets the user who unsealed it to read the contents, but it also includes a "this message will self destruct in 20s seconds" part at the bottom, and after 20s it causes the reader to get knocked down as if from a small explosion.

---

Text: This whole damn game is jimmy rigged ... what a joke...
[note: this was sent from within a guildhall, so I have not the foggiest idea what it was referring to]

---

Text: find out who the plat scammers are working for. and then send the info to the Better Business Bureau. let them take care of the scammers

---

Text: WHAT????????????????????? Totem of Escape changed from a reeediculous 30 mins to 1 Hour????????????????????????????? who made that decision????????

I will call and write to Japan and go to the top!!! Guaranteed

and Scathe that person ... tell me who did it ????????

I'll petition usless CA for the name GUaranteed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sick of this Garbage.. you already STOLE our money with S of Fates for your own uses and royally Gyped casual players I have ther Facts!! come meet them !!!

---

Text: It would be fun to have a house pet that is a giant (like a fire giant, or one of the regular giants from the Steppes). I'm thinking for the guild halls, having a giant stomping around would be a cool change. :) Just an idea.

---

Text: Heya :)

Would be fun if in new xpack some of the raid bosses would drop must have house items :)

---

Text: We need to inundate the market with rares in order to bring the prices down some. Prices are getting ridiculous on this server, for rares and the items made with them. Help!!
---

Text: I've about fucking had it with you and having to explain how to balance your crappy Joke of PvP in this game. Get your shit togeather already.

-----

Text: The Day/Night Time of the game., I really do not like the night time! It gets so dark I can hardly see., is there a command to do away with the Night Time? Thanks for listening...

---

Text: the guild hall flooring makes me sick.....the flooring that we as players are allowed to place should be one piece....the floor blinks rapidly causing great stress upon me

---

Text: When are weapon appearence items going to be in the marketplace? Want some!

---

Text: You guys could take Stonebrunt, Sinking Sands, Tenebrous Tangle, Pillars of Flame, and a couple of the void instances and make one helluva golf course. Just saying.

---

Text: You should put some chain-looking options for cloth wearers in the appearance section. Specifically pants.

---

Text: Can you port /gems from EQ1 into EQ2?

---

Text: Re: Things running slowly

In Greater Faydark, strolling, me
A prowler, running, I did see
His limbs full stretch, as if to reach
Some far-off distant strond, or beach
And yet though round and round he went
His labours clearly were mis-spent
For though he seemed to want to run
His dreams were dashed, by someone
A higher being than this poor dog
Had deemed that he should ever slog
And, while seeming to be going fast
He's doomed to prowl slow till the last.

:(

---

Text: Void warped wood drops need to be higher, I believe.

Also, can we have armadillo pets.... kthxbye. :)

---

Text: There should be giraffe and zebras mounts from the Commonlands.

---

Text: Hello,

Do you think players would like some quests in which you get some attackers or unexpected visitors when you are in your own home and maybe in your own guild? Thanks and regards

---

Text: This game needs fingerless gloves. In some way, shape, or form. Even if it's Station Marketplace bought. It'd be awesome to have some.

What do players want?

Some bits of nightly in-game feedback that caught my eye recently for being amusing, or unusual, or interesting, or just plain incomprehensible.

---

Text:        I would like to see a house item called Doors. This way we can have doors in our houses. Floor item, position and grow to the desired size. These would save state so that they would not auto close. Also, I would like to see them have keys so only certain people can open certain doors - although that could be tricky to code.

---

Text:        Can we get wigs.. as appearance slot headgear... that way erudites can have hair

---

Text:        um, there are christmas lights on the mane of the arcande steed of the faithful.  Guess that goes together....

---

Text:        I'm an armorer and a dark elf sk, not a pastry chef.

---

Text:        Can we please start having game elevators automatically return to the "down" position after a couple of minutes? This expansion is full of elevators, and everybody always leaves them at the top, which forces me to call the elevator down, then sit and wait for it. There's no need for this. They should automatically return to the "down" position. Or, you can avoid this problem altogether and leave elevators out of zone design. I very much hate the way you have implemented elevators in this game.

---

Text:        I think it would be really cool if you added a playable mermaid race, and an underwater city. But actual mermaids with full fins, and the place would actually look underwater. And all of the merpeople would get a spell that allows them to breathe on land for 2 hours at a time. Since they are aquatic they wouldnt be able to breathe on land without that spell. Or maybe you could just add actual mermaids instead of just sirens. Please consider the idea. =)

---

Text:        Re: Game Experience May Change During Online Play

I always knew that these warning words had to be there for a good reason. Once upon a time I viewed them as a simple disclaimer; little did I realise that the game would change so very much that I would wake up one day and realise that I really didn't belong here any more.

The thing is: after many years of living hand-to-mouth in Norrath, I've somehow managed recently to acquire a long-term lease. I suspect it had something to do with a fast-talking erudite. So, here I am, with the whole of Norrath open to me, and yet... and yet, I feel very odd.

I think I need to expand and expound...

Once upon a time (as I think I mentioned), it made sense to maximise my intelligence. Wisdom meant nothing to me back then. And so, my character developed: I became a very smart (or so I believed) but really rather, well, foolish bard. And, yet, strangely, it seemed to fit. That was me: I felt right.

But now, I find that for some really bizarre reason, my intelligence is leaking away, and I feel a nurge to gain more of a trait I've never had before: something called... wisdom?. This trend worries me mightily: instead of a clueless bard who sometimes does do the right thing in spite of himself, this half-mended crystal ball here is suggesting a wise old bird who's thick as two short planks.

That's just not me.

/sigh

Ah, well.

Thanks for listening, anyway.

---

Text:        FYI New Halas rocks! Hats off to the designers!

---

Text:        Hi! There are a couple of things I'd like to suggest. One is quite big, I really don't like waking up on my doorstep if I haven't paid my rent. How about having it so that when you log-in, and you are in your home, and your rent is due, you get a dialogue box asking you to pay your rent, and if you don't THEN it chucks you out? That would be much nicer.

The second thing is quite small. I still live at the inn in Kelethin, and every time I leave, this idiot treant is telling me it needs a pruning. I wish I could give it a terminal pruning. Could you PLEASE shut the damned thing up?

Thank you!

---

Text:        btw would like to say to soe did a great job on 90 is the most enjoyed level i've ever done since lvl 60 good work . and think about letting alts get cella update without running the zone im very busy thats ruff when got 5 myth alt's .

---

Text:        getting knocked unconsious but not killed is a reeeeally cool event, instead of making it like the last 1% perhaps it could be the last 3% so it happens 3 times as much ?

---

Text:        Houseing in Paineel! Make it happen

---

Text:        OK qeynos is good, freeport is evil.  dark elf shadow knights, crafters or not, do not "offer to share the baked fish with their new hua mein friends."  Unless, of course, they have the option of poisoning it first.

---

Text:        Hello! [name removed] the gnome from the 'shire here! I was just in Gorowyn. You've changed it! I'd have to say, it was much more fun with all the elevators, but I suppose you made it simpler for people in a way? at least it shows you are listening to people!

---

Any chance you might listen to me? It would be really nice to see the Baubbleshire get a little improvement! Even a travel through Norrath ability on the dock would be nice. Gnomes seem to be increasingly common in Norrath, it would be nice for them to have a home.

---

Text:        For intentional raid wipes,  There should be an item added to the game that lets you commit suicide.  Like a poision potion or something.

What do players want?

A selection of some /feedback from players:

---

Text: Astonishing graphics. Unique MMO, perhaps the greatest MMO ever to exist.

---

Text: there sould be something that makes you jump really high like i was sittin here thinking this is a game of endless possiblitys why not be able to become lycan or vamperic not fully but u should understand where i am coming from

---

Text: A goblin race, like a short troll :)

---

Text: Getting a quest out of Kallon Ebbtide on the docks of Sinking Sands is like playing a pornographic flash game written in Japanese with blocks where the words should be. I've been through his text for five minutes, and not a quest yet.

---

Text: I think on the creature conjuror that you can place in your guild hall. It would be cool if people could summon epic monsters

---

Text: Surface water walking boots would be a cool LON item

---

Text: Nice face on the highland stalker kitten. haha

---

Text: Please add a way to diable all bonus xp for accounts.
Levelling up is the part of the game I enjoy most.
I do not appreciate having that fun reduced by bonus xp weekends
The normal rate of levelling is too fast for my tastes anyway

---

Text: Wheres the cows? Can get mounts/plushes of all types, but no cows.

---

Text: battlegrounds unfair fix fix fix
going to keep sending feedbacks every time till you do something

---

Text: How come you have never added Camels as a mount to the game?

---

Text: I'd love nothing more then to see a marketplace item that is a Nurse's hat. The traditional white hat with red cross on the front.

---

Text: there should be station cash house item-dice. When you roll them, you get a random fabled item, once a week.

What do players want?

More selections from in-game /feedback:

---

Text: For the love of god (seriously it's that bad! =), please allow us to hide the white names displayed above the plushies from the daily chronomage plushy quest!

---

Text: when do defilers get their turn at being OP?

---

Text: I wish there was an appearance slot for colored light sources.

---

Text: Attunable should be unattunable after a month.

---

Text: THANK YOU FOR THE MOUNT RENDERING OPTION!!!!!!! <3

---

Text: Had an idea for a cool guild ammenity... a "speaking horn" that would allow a trustee to basically do an /emotezone inside their guild hall. It would only do the emote inside the hall, and could have limits on the usage (Say max once every 5-15 minutes), but would make for a pretty cool tool that could be used both for crowd control (emotezones REALLY stand out) and for atmoshpere if the guild hall is used for a themed event (ie a player-run 'haunted house' kind of experience).

---

Text: Kneeling on a chair is silly.

---

Text: How about increasing the amount of money it takes to repair your armor when you die? Thats a death penalty, would make people think twice about dying to save time if they had to spend 10 platinum to repair their broken armor

---

Text: I would like to have the appearance looked at on ogre males pertaining to robes, gi's, and such looked at. They look very non-male and a lot of gear make you look female'ish.

---

Text: please make a better gablin game more like a casino where you can actually set it to auto play so we can actually sleep while it plays by its self.

---

Text: I would love the red swinging chandolier for my house =D that's in Vaults in kunark in the book room.

---

Text: please make fairys wings flutter on mounts its way cuter, and doesn't look as lame.

---

Text: The glass displays found in Obelisk of lost souls would be a nifty house item :)

---

Text: How about a nice rare for fishing like a talking fish that you can put on a wall in housing :)

What do players want?

Some more selections of player /feedback submitted in-game.  I thought these ones really demonstrated how opinions are often completely contradictory.  Note that all these comments were received on the exact same day, based on the exact same set of in-game conditions.

---

Text: grats on the resist changed in battlegrounds. Now my wizard cannot beat any class in a 1vs1 situation. Roots resist every single time. Spells do little to no damage. My last match, my biggest nuke hit for 1800. Thanks for making wizards teir 4 dps.

---

Text: Mages do too much fucking damage in BGs. Too much. Say it with me. Too much damage. Get that through your tiny little brains.

---

Text: for how freaking powerful you guys made wizards and warlocks you need to nerf manashield to take less damage

---

Text: Thank you so, so, SO VERY MUCH for fixing resists!!!!!!! I can actually enjoy the game again! Thank you again.

---

Text: sorry to say but resists are still broken and rangers hit way too hard

---

Text: the mage resist changes you made have improved BG a LOT - Thanks!

---

Text: Wow, whatever you guys did to spells yesterday relly screwed things up. Suddenly, I am unable to win a pvp fight it seems. Great job. Why is it everyhting goes from bad to worse in this game?

---

Text: THANK YOU for fixing damage and resist in battlegrounds!!!!!!!!!!! They are fun again, as I can live more than 2 seconds and more than 2 hits as a healer. I feel important again.  I want to again THANK YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
---

Text: can you refix the resist ? i cant kill anything anymore in BG

What do players want?

Today Dellmon of the EQ2's Day podcast reminded me I haven't posted player feedback in ages. I stopped as we approached our last expansion, since during beta, when most of our feedback was about NDA-covered beta things, I couldn't post them. But since Sentinel's Fate launched it's just been laziness, I'm afraid! So, without further ado:

Selections from recent player-submitted in-game feedback ...

---

Text: Being parried by ghosts' butt cheeks in Perah'Celsis is infuriating.

---

Text: I think it would be great if You relocated Merriou, the Kerra who wanders around South Qeynos longing for the simplicty of her traditional Kerran life, to Kerra Isle in Sundered Frontier. There, she could complain of how the rat problem is worse than in the down below, yada yada yada. Would be a nice in game Easter Egg
---

Text: I think your boobs should get bigger as you level.

Text: I'd really (REALLY) love the ability to purchase an empty lot.

Have it be the upgrade to the 6/7 room houses, cost 10p or more to buy.

Be a decently sized open lot - no walls, no ceilings, just a variety of backgrounds maybe. That way, we could build our own houses.

Text: I personally think it was about time we had some sort of underwear revamp or w/e you want to call it. I am tired of the baggy slack pants and tattered dress we have had since Isle of refuge. I miss the old days of EQlive where each and every race had a different looking underdress. I'd also prefer and fully support that the more bestial races have the option of appearing fully, or at least more nude than they currently are able with the imperceptible gear. Its entirely possible as I've seen happen in some cases with rare glitches and nothing shows anyways so I don't see the harm.

Text: Thought it might be cool for this Halloween to have a zombie Apocalypse. Here is how I thought the idea might work out.

Give the player a Detrimental that makes them look like a zombie of their race and an ability(clicky) that allows them to infect other people. Then you could set up a quest to get "the cure".If people don't want to participate the Detrimental could wear off at the end of the Halloween season or when you camp.

After they have found "the cure" they could go around and cure others or maybe have a merchant/NPC that sells some kind of "Zombie combat kit" that would allow them to cure zombies.

Prizes/rewards could include.

Custom titles could be rewarded for cureing or infecting so many people.

Text: An Easter event idea for you guys. (well, two actually)

1.) An Easter day only zone that we can go kill bunnies and recieve egg shinies till our hearts content.

2.) An Easter Bunny mob that spawns randomly all over norrath (scaled to whatever zone he's in) that can be killed for special rewards (perhaps shards or marks could be in his basket)

Just a couple of thoughts and ideas for everyone to think about for next year.

What do players want?

Selections from recent player-submitted in-game feedback ...

---

Text: i think it would be pretty neat if sk/pally's squire helped out their masters, even if they just miss all the time or do like 2 damage, they just stand around and watch their masters get beat on.. also same thing would be cool for rangers companions, they just eat grass while im being killed, doesnt seem like they love me very much, so much for being my companion =(

---

please re-work the conj water pet hydromancer she is in dire need of a upgrade, fasters spell casting ? better healing,, more function, AT LEAST A DRESS LOL

---

Text: I think it would be a fabulous idea if you guys would make us a closet door! Kinda like the guild hall door we can put in our house...but the closet door wld zone us into a room where we can store all of our appearance gear (since we have such a abundance of it now hehe). That way we can zone in and try on our outfits

Text: I want to thank you for the great Halloween event this year! This zone is incredibly well done - probably the best in EQ2. It's full of immersion and flavor - I wish more zones were like this! I laughed so hard at the old man telling me to get off his lawn, and the halfling who says she's a friend, not food. Great job guys! I love it!

What do players want?

More selected feedbacks that amused, confused, or interested me, from our players! <3

---

Text: I've only been playing EQ2 about 5 months but it is my very favorite game. I only have one complaint.

I think it should be sexier. An actual underwear or bikini naked look. Sexy appearance items and gear that shows leg, stomach, and cleavage (more than just the monk gi's). Sexy race specific dances. More flirtatious emotes.

These are the only things keeping EQ2 from being the greatest game on the planet. Thank you.

Text: Bartender and general merchant npcs should have surprise items to buy now and then. for example, a bartender in greystone yard may have a special brew that he sells only one week of the month. perhaps this brew gives players the ablity to gain more xp for a short duration or turn into something, or just plain knock the player off their feet because they couldn't handle the drink. The merchants can also sell random items that players may find useful such as quick tickets that allow players to zone to another city of the same alignment. its like bus fair. I personally like the animation of avatars holding a drink and taking a sip. A drink that shows this animation would be a wonderful social gesture at holiday events such as sipping egg nog or hot chocolate or even just taking a swig of a mug of ale.

---

Text: A good interactive gesture would be a handshake. players can target a friend and type /shakehand. this will send the second player a message that wishes to shake your hand. second player clicks accept and the animation kicks in putting both players in in the correct position facing each other and shaking hands. Later on perhaps an animation of some sort of victory gesture can be made such as a punch to the shoulder for the tank types, a high five for mages or even a headbutt would be cool. This would bring players more together in their adventures and allow more social options. thanks.

What do players want?

A selection from nightly /feedback reports.

Text: I would like to suggest if you would, a wardrobe for the house that we can put say.. 60+ items into that we wear for appearance armor. Some friends and I were discussing this, our banks are so full of appearance armor that we have no room for other important things. Having the ability to store them inside our home would be wonderful. Please consider this suggestion. Thank you.

Text: my necromancer's entire RP and lifestory evolves around the entertainment skill Nylph's Misty Image. it's fully animated, so it's very useful, and my rp is very fun and great.

BUT why the hell doesnt it work on mounts?? that ruins my entire RP, and my enjoyment of the game! it's so unfair!!! first i spend months planning the rp, getting everything i need for it, spending money, and BOOM you guys are like "oh sorry, we forgot to tell you, it doesnt work on mounts, so your character isnt worth anything." WHY?? you created an entire game, for crying out loud!! was it THAT hard just to make a small mount animation???? oh sure, the illusion can wear clothes, and dance, and curse, and do /moon, and everything. but ride mounts? no. WHY?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make some free time in your super secrret super busy life to make a mount riding animation for Nylph's Misty Image (i believe the illusion is that of a shadowed man) it's so unfair, in one simple moment my entire rp collapsed, and my gaming experience is ruined! you should have thought of that before you made this entertainment skill!

EMAIL ME!!!!!!! [address removed] I WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR INTENTIONS TO FIX IT!

thank you, have a nice day. ALOT of people are about to start sending in feedbacks about this if it wont get fixed, trust me.

Text: I'd like to suggest the addition of a few new pillar styles to the Carpenter recipies (yes, I know, it's totally a surprise suggestion coming from me =D). Currently there are three pillars: the large and small sandworn pillars and the adamantine pillar. The sandworn are rough white stone and the adamantine is a dark wood wrapped in webbing.

I'd like to suggest adding the following at various skill levels where appropriate:

1 -- Outside the Danak Shipyards in Jarsath Wastes, lining the entryway to the harbor itself, are some very nice square pillars. They have a simple design, with a light brown stone color.

2 -- In the Estate of Unrest, inside the house, there are some elegant golden pillars with an ivy wreath style design etched into the base.

3 -- In Castle Mistmore there is a golden trimmed round column somewhat similar to the sandworn ones, but much more detailed.

Each of these pillars would make excellent additions to the recipie books and would help players trim their homes and guild halls with a nice bit of flair :) (You have to have 37 pieces of flair you know =P)

Text: A suggestion for a future nights of the dead event. Using an episode of dr who as inspiration, (the one with the weeping angels) have a group instanced quest where the mobs must be kept in line of sight/frozen somehow while completeing a task. If the mobs engage they will banish the group member that they touch out of zone (perhaps with a short lockout timer to make it not possible to just zerg the quest) Watching the dr who episode would really explain the idea well (and it was really creepy besides! hehe)

Has an AoE deaggro, with the effect of dead fish smell, maybe with the dead barracuda fumes emmenating from it when wearing.

Text: I have lived on this newbie island since 2007, I watch adventures arrive here everyday and then rush off to the mainland seeking fortune. I myself like life on the island and feel no desire to ever leave it. I have one terrible misfortune though, I am completely homeless. There is no housing for those of us who live on the island. I am not asking for much maybe just a small bamboo fishing hut that only costs around a silver a week. It wouldn't need to be very big and only needs to hold maybe 50 items, just someplace to call my home would make me ever so happy.

Away in a manger...

One of the great aspects of Fan Faire each year is the opportunity to meet the folks who play our games, and to talk to them about what aspects of the games make them passionate. And we have a lot of very passionate players! And one of the things the EverQuest II team has done for a couple of years now is take away a list of top requests from Fan Faire, address them (where appropriate), and call out these changes in a special game update not long afterwards. The in-person discussions at Fan Faire help us to identify which issues folks are really passionate about, and help us make a list of key things that will really be appreciated if we prioritize them for a fix.

There were many things announced in the fan faire update patch this year, and most of them were not done by me, but one of the things that came up on numerous "wish lists" was the ability to put your mount in your home. This may seem like a fairly minor request, and gameplay-wise it is indeed not going to make you more or less effective at killing monsters. However, we have a huge variety of mounts that players can ride, from horses to flying carpets to wargs, rhinos, and dire bears, and many of them are very unique and attractive in appearance. We could all agree that it's disappointing, when you upgrade a mount to a newer, faster one, that you never use the old one again. So, wouldn't it be nice to be able to "stable" your old mounts in your home? Definitely!

There are approximately 190 mounts in EverQuest II at the moment, and allowing them to be converted into (and out of) house item form required creating 570 new files, in addition to editing the 190 original files. I volunteered to take this particular request on board, since I've got more experience creating perl scripts than many, and more experience creating house items than anybody else on the team. It still took a couple of days, but once the scripts were made and all the mounts located it wasn't too difficult a job. QA did a stellar job of testing out each one to make sure that it converted properly back and forth and -- quite importantly -- looked the same both ways. And so, when the patch went live, players were surprised and delighted to discover that suddenly that old nag they hadn't ridden for a year could now be put out to pasture -- literally put out, as a house item.

As I write this, it's not even been 2 weeks since the change, but already folks are putting together a selection of other, already existing house items to make stables, mangers, and pastures for their favorite retired mounts. Here are some screenshots of the first examples that have already been posted on the official EQII forums!

Eldra's Merry-Go-Round
Kilaelya's (and others') stables
Churche's stable

...I suspect I may soon need to add some feed/drinking trough and hitching post house items to help the horse-loving home decorating community. The merry go round is particularly clever! (Merry-go-rounds had been created previously using other animal house items that were already available, but the new pillar in the middle of this one from the previous game update patch, and the mounts with saddles, make this one look particularly believeable.)

I find it very satisfying -- we all do -- to see so many people embrace a small change like this with such enthusiasm, and have so much fun with it. It may not be killing dragons or getting uber loot upgrades, but it's no less rewarding in its way; in fact, at least for some portion of our player base, it may actually provide greater and longer-lasting satisfaction than a one-off raid kill. At any rate, it's great to see the things that folks are coming up with, and no doubt there will be many more screenshot posts coming in the next few months too. =)

Text: Hi

When EQII first started we were able to change the colors of our undies. I'd like to see this option return. Thank you.

Text: i'd like to see some blood in this game, after playing for so long the cutting noises of a blade or a thump of a club does not immerse me anymore.

Text: So food persists through death, but a dietys blessing does not? We should all be worshiping a fucking muffin!

Text: I think the harvester cloak would make a great beach towel to sell on the station store.

Text: something i think that would make the game more fun would be to add new rare weapons that were sentient and coult talk as well as grow over time if you did things for them and ofchorse taunt people when you beat them in pvp / dules

Text: *chuckles* Thank you so kindly for adding a baloon below Tupta, for us that seem to be clumsy and trip..

Text: OMG we have got to get one of those seamonsters as a water mount....the seamonsters are the dragon turtle things chained to the sheet in the Fens of Nathasar. It would be awesome if we could have a quest reward to ride one and travel the oceans of Norrath on. Please? lol

Text: how about some different mounts besides a horse warg or carpet, how about a flaming pig, or odins horse, 8 legged horse, that'd be cool, but it wouldnt be cool if i had to frickin raid for it, cuase i dont and wont raid, ever.

Text: the Undead Knight VI (Expert) could really use some armor or at least something more then the underwear hes in hehe

Text: STOP BOMBARDING US WITH PINK CRAP!!

Text: You suck

Text: A house item of a boat like a little vienna type boat, or a row boat for the basements of the guild halls would be awesome.

Text: In the next expansion you should bring back the Beastlord class. This game really needs a new class to play and i think they would be perfect

Text: Suggestion!!!!....with the jokes about "paper armor", i think it would be AWESOME to have like newspaper (and/or the funnies) armor graphic available!!!

I think players would really love it and have fun with it!

Hope it's a fun and helpful suggestion, have a good one :)

What do players want?

Some (very selective) highlights from this week's player feedback reports.

Text: Combine a dirge and troubador and make a troubadirge! :D troubadirge=uber.

Text: The next expansion better be Odus or the gnome gets it! You hear me?!

Text: Coercer mythical looks stupid

Text: Hello Friends,

It has recently occured to me that it would be very easy and cost effiecient for Sony to produce a new Race of characters are you ready? "The Cyclops" You allready have the graphics and tattoos for them and the animation to boot. It occured to mewhile frappsing a video in poets palace. they could have sweet abilitys see stealth and vizz . 10 meter ranged bonus because of there impressive sight:) think about it its a good idea

Text: but come on guys, seriously.

Burynai Beastlords.

Text: we need a house item that looks like a bottle full of jelly beans. halflings, (and Jethal) would love it

Text: please make eq2 free.

Text: I just wanted to note that yet again the GM team kicks ass.

Last night I had a bout of raging stupidity in which I accidentally looted something I shouldn't have. I sent in a petition, and by the time I woke up this morning the Sanctescere had transfered the piece to its rightful owner.

It only makes the game more fun knowing that the GMs care about the player's so much. This is only one of in a handful of such experiences. Thank you!

Text: How about a command called /holdsalute ? It would be nice to have your character stand at attention holding a salute as guild members walk by. It would be cool for saluting a raid on the way out of the guild hall.

Text: Monkey's should drop a poo that the players can loot then throw like a snowball!
